Your travel time will be something like 4 to 5 hrs. If the price is quoted directly by your accommodation in Bukit Lawang. Vay Tiền Nhanh Chỉ Cần Cmnd. 1. Re Medan Airport to Berastagi to Bukit Lawang 7 years ago Dear van Lisa, As so far nobody responded to your post, so let me be the one. Please check My post Nr 11 in. Re Beware of overcharging on buses from Medan to Bukit Lawang and the response of Artemio. Both of us concluded that conditionally Rp is a fair price. Of course, you are so right, like many people in this Forum say Rp is quite expensive for one leg. Of course, me just living here, like Artemio, who would we be to challenge what many people in this Forum say. Now, for me to answer your question, I have to keep in mind that you don’t want to be jammed into a local bus, which of course would be much cheaper. Now, thinking of you arriving at pm, I would not be surprised if this reads as h, and the plan is to go straight to Bukit Lawang for the next morning morning climb to Sibayak, and after that get reasonable priced car to Bukit Lawang. Itineray wise this is quite doable. Now by the way, the one way leg which was quoted for something like Rp was from the Airport to either Berastagi or Bukit Lawang. One way from the Airport to Berastagi for Rp or one way Airport to Bukit Lawang for Rp Not from the Airport to Berastagi, first leg, and then from Berastagi to Bukit Lawang, second leg, for Rp Of course, these prices are rather expensive and you can do much better than that, like many people have already reported in this forum, but now also condition to you not wanting to be jammed in a local bus. For your first leg, at h arriving in Medan, going to Bukit Lawang forget about any formal transportation services, just walk out the airport, at the formal taxi stand outside the Airport turn left. Pass the next formal taxi stand and all free taxi drivers will be waiting for you to drop you in Bukit Lawang at a reasonable cost per car of something like Rp if not less. No idea at what time you will arrive, if you arrive, but it is much cheaper and you will not be jammed in a local bus. Wish you luck !!. Next day, after climbing Sibayak, be in time for the shared taxi service from Parapat to Bukit Lawang via Berastagi. Board this Shared Taxi Service at Wisma Sibayak or at the Tourist Information Centre at a cost of something like Rp per person from Berastagi to Bukit Lawang. Make sure you are in time for boarding this Service and report at Wisma Sibayak or the Tourist Information Centre well before h. Because the Shared Taxi Service starts from Berastagi to Bukit Lawang not later than h. If in the end it turns out that the Shared Taxi Service is not operating. No Problem, just arrange for any cheap transportation with your own car from Berastagi to Bukit Lawang. Think of something like Rp But of course it will be much cheaper in a jammed local bus, Should it happen, board the jammed local bus to Pinang Baris. Something like Rp per person. From Pinang Baris to Bukit Lawang, See also my / our post with SWIL on Public Transport Tuk Tuk / Samosir – Bukit Lawang and the cost per person from Pinang Baris to Bukit lawang, something like Rp per person. Trips from Medan Popular routes Bukit Lawang is in Gunung Leuser National Park, North Sumatra, Indonesia. Bukit Lawang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the northern jungles of Sumatra. Understand[edit] Bukit Lawang is a small village situated 90 kilometers northwest of Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra, Indonesia. It is the most famous site to easily spot semi-wild orangutans near convenient tourism facilities. In 1973 a Swiss organization set up an orangutan rehabilitation center in Bukit Lawang. The purpose of the center was to rehabilitate orangutans released from captivity. The rangers at the center teach the orangutan all the necessary skills to survive in the wild. The orangutan is released back into the jungle after an intense period of quarantine, readjustment to the natural habitat, and reintegration into the semi-wild population. After that, all released orangutans are still monitored by the rangers and are still provided with supplementary food at the feeding platform until they become fully self-reliant. Out of this project, the Sumatra Orangutan Conservation Programme SOCP was founded. With the arrival of the rehabilitation center more and more tourists find their way to Bukit Lawang and it becomes one of the most popular destinations in Sumatra. A flash flood hit Bukit Lawang on 2 November 2003. As this was witnessed the tidal water wave was approximately 20 meters high, as it came crashing down the hills, wiping out everything in its path. The disaster, which was the result of illegal logging, destroyed the local tourist resorts and had a devastating impact on the local tourism industry. Around 400 houses, 3 mosques, 8 bridges, 280 kiosks and food stalls, 35 inns, and guest houses were destroyed by the flood and 239 people 5 of them tourists were killed and around 1,400 locals lost their homes. After eight months of rebuilding, Bukit Lawang was re-opened again in July 2004. Especially the young generation is hoping to rebuild the village in a more sustainable way, than before and they are very aware of the importance of preservation of the fragile ecosystem they live in. They can use all the support and the income of tourism will help them in the realization of their ideas for a brighter future for Bukit Lawang. Get in[edit] By plane[edit] Airports, [x]. As of 2018, there are no large public buses to Bukit Lawang anymore, instead, smaller orange minivans serve the route every 15 minutes. These are referred to as the public bus. Get a Grab taxi to drop you off at the Mawar Bakery & Cake Shop, which is 1km along the road from Pinang Baris terminal. This is where the orange " Bukit Lawang buses leave from. They will follow you the 1km walk to the bakery and talk the driver into charging you an extra "commission fee" to go into their pocket. Avoid this hassle and go to the bakery directly, find the orange buses parked along the road & try to find the bus driver, and avoid the scammers. The last stop of the public bus, where you get off, is normally the bus terminal in Gotong Royong, a village just 5 minutes from Bukit Lawang. From here you can get a becak motorbike/sidecar/tuk-tuk type thing. This should drop you at the national park office in Bukit Lawang and you can then find your guest house. There are many drivers offering minivans from the Belawan ferry terminal direct to Bukit Lawang and bargain hard. Expect to be shifted minivan at least once in Medan.
